Supervision
Supervision
Have a system to check that control measures are in place and that they are being followed. Employers should make sure employees have the means to perform all necessary tasks.
Examination and testing
Examination and testing
Visually check all equipment for signs of damage regularly in accordance with how often the equipment is being used. Obtain information on the design performance of dust suppression equipment from the supplier. Keep records of inspections for a period of time in compliance with national laws (minimum five years). Where relevant, put in place measures to control the risk of bacterial growth within water sources across site.
Training
Training
Employees should be provided with training on dust exposure prevention, checking controls are functional and how to use them, when and how to use PPE, and what to do in case something goes wrong.
PPE
PPE
Risk assessment must be carried out to determine areas where PPE must be used. If necessary, respiratory protective equipment with the appropriate protection factor should be provided and worn. Storage facilities to keep PPE clean should be provided. Follow all manufacturer’s specifications for replacement intervals for PPE.
Maintenance
Maintenance
Ensure equipment used in the task is maintained as advised by the supplier or installer in efficient working order and in good repair. If the machine or equipment has a manual, maintain in accordance with the instructions.
Housekeeping
